Just like music…

John Legend – evolver

This album was good…it was a typical John Legend album – love – make me feel good…and at some point have sex type of album.  Hands down – the best song of the album is #7 – No other love featuring Estelle.  The best way I can describe this song to you is this – imagine yourself in a dimely lit basement with reggae music playing dancing – slow winding on your dance partner – with a mist of sweat on you and her body…yes…its like that!  My issue with John tho…in my opinion…I feel like he is falling into the Musiq Soulchild trap…all of his albums sound the same [I remember when Tina Turner said taht to ike...and we all know what happened next...lol]  anywho…I do feel like all of his songs do sound the same…and if John doesnt come up with a new swag…another how you doin singer will come along and take his place.

Oh!  Brandy does make an appearance on this album…and she sounds great!  After hearing that…I’m interested in seeing how the cicada’s new album will sound.

Solange – Solangel

I can’t front guys…

This album is sick!  It has a very rustic 60’s motownish sound that I personally dig.  I think its fresh…and different from the crap that is shoved down our throats [i.e. chopped and screwed].  If you like that throw back sound [a la Amy Winehouse - Back to Black] then you need to def be on that Solange tip.  The reality of the situation is…Solangel hands down is a great album – but…wont get recongnition because of who her sister is…and I’m going to say it now…and crouch down to avoid the stones being thrown at me…but I think…Solange might be the more talented sister [ducks]

Beyonce – I am Schitzo

Dude…I feel like this album sux.  I feel like her musical craft is beginning to wane.  Like lets be real. When Beyonce came out as a solo artist in 2003 – with Dangereously in Love – she successfully ended the careers of Amerie [I'd still beat] and Ashanti [oh baby, baby baby baby baby baby baby baby].  Dangerously in love…sick album.  Her next album [ B'day] was ok at best…not great…but ok – and that album couldn’t stop Ciara and Rihana [2 chicks who both can't sing to save their lives].  I went to myspace and listened to her new album…and was like…is this the best you could do B?  The reality of the situation is the CD will sell…because its Beyonce…but…because of a new hair cut…Rihana is the new it girl…so if this acting career doesnt pick up for Beyonce…Beyonce will fade to the background.

Before you call me a hater…please listen to all three albums…you will see the quality suffer…and the corniness pick up.  All i’m saying is…don’t be surprised if Destiny’s child comes back together because the Beyonce Machine is getting tired – derion isn’t working, her acting is in question…she needs to step up her music game…or jus lay on her back and have jigga’z babies – HOV

And speaking of Beyonce as an actress…given her current resume…she sucks…meaning that her as Etta james…might suck too…and if thats teh case…she should give up acting [not hating...jus being real].  OR…take a page in Halle’s book…and play a crackhead.

Really…all I’m saying…is Beyonce is a more talented singer and dancer than Rihana…dont you find it interesting…that Beyonce can’t shake her off like she did Ashanti?  I mean…at least Amerie could sing.
